A wonderful example of a mid 19th century Mill, which has been producing wholemeal flour by the same family for over 170 years. The tour of the facility, ran by owner James Tallon, is fascinating, while the beautiful location, along the banks of the River Blackwater, makes the historic Martry Mill most definitely a worthwhile visit for those seeking out something a little different. 10/10

It was a very fun and memorable outing today. Hosted by James (squared; father, and son) at @martrymill . An active mill powered by the river, with mill stones that have been in use prior to 1850. Collected fresh ground wheat flour, made our own loaf of bread, and had a nice tour with historic educational information.
Great day!

This place is an excellent way to spend a day. Authentic and fun. We made bread the best way possible with terrific guidance and pleasant company. I learned a lot about milling, the culture and surrounding area. Thank you, James and James, Sr.

Absolutely brilliant place to visit - went as a group of 7, including kids 2 and 5 .
Everyone had a fantastic time .
Making the bread from scratch was lots of fun and the tour with James was highly engaging and interesting .
There are few places I’ve been where the kids were as entertained for as long !
A really well spent few hours .
Highly highly recommended for all ages !

Did a private tour with my parents and brother. James was so nice and answered all of our questions. His presentation of the mill was fantastic and we had such a fun time and learned so much. For any tourists in the area, this is absolutely worth a stop. He showed us how to make brown bread and we took home a loaf for each of us. Now we’re back in the states and enjoying making it again at home. Next time we’re in Ireland we will make sure there is space in our luggage to bring home a few bags of flour.
